UNT football moves from 97.1 to 1190

I guess UNT is unaware that KFXR has no night signal into Denton.😳😵‍💫😱

This just just announced today, only four days before the Mean Green season opener.

Something going on with KEGL that would prompt this?🤔🤨

Those folk in Denton can listen on KNTU. KNTU is the head end of the Network.

Is that still the case? If you click Frog's link it says 1190 is the flagship. If you pull up NTU's 2025 Media Almanac is lists 1190 and KHYI (95.3). No mention of KNTU that I could find.

As an aside, it is almost impossible to find any useful "radio" information on any of these college team websites. I know I have complained about it before here, but it is just terrible.

I just looked at the official sites for Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, and TCU and only A&M had an obvious affiliates link so I could find my local station. The others have nothing even in their very long media guide pdfs.

If you search Google sometimes there is a page that often is stuck somewhere and appears out of date or in complete. It doesn't seem most of the universities care about radio coverage/listening whatsoever anymore.

Is anyone in D/FW carrying the A&M broadcast this year?

Maybe because of KNTU's non commercial status they cant be mentioned as the "flagship", but I can tell you from the time I board opped some games for KHYI, the broadcast came from KNTU or from Learfield's NOC in Jefferson City.

as of right now nope. I just looked at the Learfield affiliate lists.

most likely the fact that when UNT signed the deal, 97.1 was still "The Freak" and in the 2 years since the deal went down, 97.1 reverted back to The Eagle and UNT football didn't fit well with a rock station, and neither does the Mavs, wouldn't be surprise if iHeartMedia moves that or finds a out clause to get the Mavs off of The Eagle.
