Unusual AM conditions this morning (1-29-12)

Scanning some AM frequencies in the Vermilion and Lorain areas in Ohio I heard the following:
1400 sounded like it does at night with WMAN barely noticable above the slop.
1410 heard WRIS/Roanoke, VA with lots of others underneath it.
1430 had multiple stations coming in including one playing London Beat's "I've Been Thinking About You"
1440 was a mess
1450 local WLEC had other stations audible underneath
1460 heard WABQ, WBNS and a couple of UNid others mixing together
1470 - 1490 were a mess
1510 semi local WLKR was being clobbered by DX
Others in the 1500 range sounded much like nighttime reception
Heard a Radio Disney affiliate on 1640 (Didnt give any call sign) In fact the entire X-Band had at least one station coming in on each frequency. This was all between 9:30 and 10am EST.

Anyone else getting unusual daytime AM reception today?

Last week just before noon, heard WWKB Buffalo,NY 1520 in North Carolina. Car radio. Did band scan with no other unusual DX stations. Just KB radio. Winter skywave.

I a pretty sure that the 1430 KHZ station you heard was KZQZ in St. Louis. They seem to be using their construction permit 50 KW daytime only pattern lately. I hear them going home almost every night, and at times their signal is quite strong...I can't imagine WXNT/1430 in Indianapolis isn't affected at sunset by the new KZQZ power/pattern.

Would KZQZ be playing Londonbeat from the 90s? They have been strong with oldies into SW Ohio.
You probably had the Kalamazoo Radio Disney...very regular in SW Ohio.

This sounds like a day last January I had driving through Tennessee.

Monitored 1430 on the way home from work, about 4PM EST driving from Lorain, OH to Vermilion, OH and heard several stations including one that played Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" followed by Marc Cohn's "Walking in Memphis" followed by Judy in the Sky With Glasses. I checked KZQZ and WION websites but neither showed their 'last played' songs. Just curious as to which one of them I was hearing. The other stations sounded like talk and/or sports. This morning around 8 AM on 1510 I heard ESPN Desportes mixed with other stations which I don't ever recall hearing on 1510. Seems a little early for WRRD/Milwaukee to already be signed on unless the 'critical hours' start before actual sunrise.
