UPCOMING WILMINGTON FORMAT CHANGE TIMES?

I know things are about to get confusing due to four frequency changes.

Does anyone know the exact date and time sign off/stunting/new format debut will occur for the following frequecies?

Surf 98.3 Signs off and maybe becomes The Penguin.

La Gran D Signs off and Will debut Modern Rock on Monday 1/3/2011. Will 98.7 Stunt the weekend before and when will Modern Rock Debut?

When Will 106.7 The Penguin Sign Off and the unknown Christian format begin?

What about AM1180?

If anyone has any information on the upcoming flips it would be much appreciated. I am hoping to catch the flips as they happen.

During the Shara-A-Thon "Carolina Christian Radio" did on three of their FM's last week, they mentioned in the
"near future" The Word 1180 will move to 106.7, no date has been set, but if the FCC has given the nod to
the "ownership changes", i think "The Penguin" will move to 98.3 by January 3rd, 98.7 will no doubt start their
"modern rock" format New Year's Day with a "commercial-free" marathon of music leading to the "live" block of
jocks, don't be surprised it will be awhile before this takes place because Sunrise Broadcasting is searching for
a morning show, and once this takes place, they will make their move, and as i said in a previous post, once
1180 goes to "Sea-Comm Media" expect them to sell it to another broadcast group that will take it back to a
"Secular Spanish" format, as for other Wilmington stations that will change during 2011?, don't be surprised
if "The Hawk" goes in a different direction, and if "The Bone" doesn't pick up in numbers, as summer ends
next year, a change will come, stay tuned...

Am I the only one who thinks "Modern Rock" is just a ploy ......98.7 May not be Modern Rock. I know in my earlier post I responded to the question "how can they be family friendly" the more I think it over the less sense it makes. Think about it; The Hawk plays clean music but I would not call it a family friendly station they give out concert tickets for the older crowd; I know because I won AC/DC tickets from The Hawk last year. The Bone is pure trash. Surf was always at bars; I don't consider a bar family friendly. Unless I am missing one here are the family friendly stations 95.5, 99.9, 101.3, 102.7, 104.5 and MAYBE 107.5. If 98.7 REALLY wants to focus on the 90s AND be family friendly they need to pick up a Gen X format; if I did this the music would start at 1986 and end at 2005. I'm sorry but unless "Modern Rock" is a ruse, I just don't see it working. Surf's numbers were in the toilet as are The Bone's and The Hawk's. If 98.7 wants to gain any listeners they must stand out from every other radio station and they are up against other markets because of their signal strength.

Where did this "family friendly" crap come from? Unless we're talking AC or Oldies by nature of the format it isn't (or probably can't really be) family friendly.

Take a Listen to the debut of WIGX Long Island. http://formatchange.com/94-3-wmjc-becomes-gen-x-radio-94x/

Think about it; no rock station in this market has been able to garnish decent ratings for a number of years.

Sunny 104.5 is all 90s Gen X on weekends and they climb with each rating book.

This modern rock thing has got smokescreen written all over it. Why not take a 100,000 watt signal and put a format on that will fit the demographic perfectly.

Everything Sunrise touches or puts effort into either is at the top or is climbing in the raitings; I will point this out.

Jammin' 99.9 lost half their audience but as soon as the last book came out, they quit with the weird AC/Dance mix crap and they sound like they did five years ago with mostly motown, oldies and R&B with some funk from the 80s and one slow hit from the 90s in there in other words they do not sound all scattered

Sunny 104.5 has WAAAAAY more veriety than GNI; their jocks are all well known and well respected. Sunny knew GNI had a lock on the 80s so they ditched that decade and went after they younger crowd. Sunny's jocks are always fun and their playlist is always up to date.

Z107.5 continues to recive high marks because the teens love Top 40 and all the jocks fit the station to a T.

Now for the other side of the coin.

Surf 98.3 and La Grand D 98.7 were not shown the same love as the rest of the radio stations; granted La Grand D was only re-aquired by Sunrise recently.

It seems to me that rock stations in this market are not shown love and effort and that is why they fail. Who knows my hunch could be wrong and we are about to be in for a 90s modern rocker. If modern rock or any rock is going to work Sunrise MUST put forth effort into this massive signal. If it is "family friendly" Sunrise is seeking they really need to take a hard look at WIGX in Long Island.

On another thread someone wanted "Will FM" back. Gen X is better than Veriety Hits in my opinion and my last point.

The Gen X format is "Family Friendly"

Merry Christmas To All :)
