Update on WLOQ

I just spoke to someone at WLOQ and they had not heard anything anywhere along the lines that 103.1FM is for sale.

Someone is obviously trying to start trouble on the board

Probably so. But by the same token, there's been speculation about LOQ for the last couple of years, especially since Salem entered the Orlando market.

Problem is that the market is all "clustered up" already... (and make of that whatever you will)... CC, CBS and Cox are maxed out. No other big operator is likely to want to come in and take on a standalone FM without the prospect of obtaining other properties. That's why Salem makes sense.

Other candidates in my mind would be Mega or Disney.
______________

WLOQ

Disney? Haven't you heard- ABC sold it's radio assets.

But Disney is keeping Radio Disney.

Perhaps Disney would like an FM outlet for Radio Disney in such an influencial market to the brand. Think about it, advertisements at the airport advertising Radio Disney on an FM frequency in Orlando. The station could probably tie in some theme park-related promotions... isn't one of the Radio Disney shows live from Walt Disney World every day?

And 990 WDYZ would appear to make a decent ESPN Radio O&O, as Disney will be keeping that brand as well, post merger.

The article I read said ABC only sold 22 of its 71 stations, keeping the Disney and ESPN brands as stated above.

I've never understood why they didn't have an ESPN O&O in the market, especially sice 1080 is all they have as an affiliate.
______________

nope

They've sold the ABC stations- keeping "Radio Disney" does not portend them getting back into purchasing FMs in markets where they have Radio Disney.
It's never been part of their plans- a totally separate entity.
