Update....Sort of on WATO

Hi all once again. The reason why I titled this Update..sort of is because I'm just updating from the position of an "outsider" just putting observations on here. I'm in no wise connected with the new owners of the station in any form. Anyway, on my way to and from work at the Oak Ridge City Complex, I noticed there is some activity going on at the WORI now Wato tower on the former WOKI studio property on Tulsa Road. They are cutting the trees and brush that have swallowed the tower base over the years. I have not walked back there and looked around because it's been raining the last few days and for another thing I don't know the condition and integrity of the ground system. The station continues to operate on an apparent "test mode" with what sounds like a cd jukebox with oldies (not bad at that) and a very rare id. With it being on the air I do not want to step on an energized radial that may be poking from the ground or anything like that. Especially since there's been a bush hog back there. With this activity perhaps they may be getting ready to get on the air for real? Don't know. seems like they've been testing that thing for quite a while.

At any rate, someone was asking about signal on an earlier post. I was in Maryville a few weeks ago and it was playing pretty decent over there. The station has at least a decent daytime distant signal for the exception out west. Not so good towards Harriman for some reason. At night it's pretty noisy with co channel except right in the city. That 500 watts with everything else out there on 1290 doesn't get out real far. I live in Marlowe and use a G.E. Superadio3. Noisy at night here at my house. Daytime distant listening was from the stock radio in my Ford Truck.
Does anyone have any contact info on the owners of this thing? I wonder about studio location and some other things. I know the lady's name and that she is in Lenoir City but that's it.
As I said earlier, I hope the station has more success and better upkeep than it's previous owners gave the previous facility over on Eastburn Lane. That place is literally falling down , no windows left in it all with the equipment and transmitter still in there. Or it was a couple months ago anyway.
When this goes on the air for real it will need some really good promoting. It may make it with some high-energy promotion and production. Some decent audio chain processing could help also.
That's all I've got for now.

I heard through the grapevine that David Clary was going to be running the show. I think was doing all the local sports for them for a long time. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
