Update: WFAN/WEPN Baseball Flagship Radio Rights

I would not be surprised if the contract is with CBS Radio New York, and not with WCBS-880.

This way, the Yankees could go to WFAN-660 even if the company renews the Mets.

I think, as I noted earlier in this thread, that the combination of the Yankees and WFAN would present many great opportunities.

The question is now what will the Mets do? Does CBS even want them back? I agree that the Yankees' new contract is with CBS Radio New York and not with WCBS-880, so if the Mets leave, the Yankees will go to 660.

It wouldn't surprise me if WEPN-FM overpays to get the Mets. WEPN-FM needs baseball if they're going to have a chance against WFAN. :)

The newscaster shortly after 5:00 in so many words said that the Yankees had "re-signed with WCBS." I don't think management would allow that wording to be used on the air if they thought there was a chance that they would have to walk it back in the future.

I know the Mets are WFAN's flagship team. I remeber reading that the Devils and Giants buy air time from WFAN while the Mets broadcasts are a WFAN production.
