Update: WHDH-7 Weather

I did not see any of WHDH-7's morning news or the local news cut-ins during "Today" this morning (December 5th), but I did see their Noon news.

Chikage Windler was doing the weather at Noon.

If Pete Bouchard wasn't on this morning, it may be a tip-off that he will, at least for now (and who knows, maybe longer??) be doing the weeknight weather reports.

That was confirmed yesterday, I think. Terry Casey will sub for Chikage on weekends.

Meanwhile, while Fybush's North East Radio Watch mentions the dismissal
of Gross, still no details via the folks on Morrissey Blvd. (and I mean
the Globe, not Greater Media!) or Herald Sq.

And yes, the station bio (still accessible via the "Cached" feature of
search engines) did indeed say that last year Gross hoped he'd stay
another 20 years at the station. He was off by 19.

Just after 5 P.M. this afternoon (December 5th), Pete Bouchard finished a weather update on WHDH-7, and tossed it back to co-anchor Randy Price.

Price replied "Thanks, Todd.....I mean, Pete!".

Tonight, Howie Carr on his radio show said that Gross got whacked because of
the slipping ratings at ch.7. The Boston Herald will have all the details
on Gross' firing in tomorrow morning's Inside Track section.

In a fitting tribute, Howie also said that twenty years from now it's unlikely that anyone will remember some oranege haired dweeb weather guy who took over after Harvey Leonard left for ch.5. I think Howie is right. They should've
never let Harvey walk, those cheapskates.

You guys are being a bit rough on Todd, aren't you? Although he was never a match for Harvey Leonard, he was far better than anyone else in the market. Pete Bouchard seems like a nice guy, but he is an extremely pale meteorologist compated with Todd Gross. In fact, this is a bigger step down for ch. 7 than the transition from Harvey to Todd.

In no way is this a good move on the part of "7 News". By the way, if Randy Price made the toss "thanks Todd, I mean Pete" then that's a pretty classy move on his part! It sounds like things went down in a really crappy way on Friday down at 7 Bullfinch Place.

Do not believe the hype, folks! Don't believe those bastians of media credibility (NOT!), Howie Carr and the Boston Herald. Later today or early tomorrow, the Boston TV News site (www.btvn.net) hopes to publish an exclusive, in-depth interview with Todd in which he plans to set the record straight

It may also have been an honest "slip of the tongue".

But if Randy Price intentionally did it (and given what Gross said about Price in an interview he gave to BTVN.net, who knows??), then it's obvious that at least one high-profile anchor at WHDH-7 was upset that Gross got canned.
