This is to inform new posters to this board, as well as reminding current posters of the rules.

1) legally actionable content is NOT ALLOWED
After consulting with the management about whether it is correct procedure for moderators to edit content that violates the rules on posting copyrighted data or other legally actionable content, deleting will now occur on any post that contains ratings numbers, slanderous remarks, or violation of "fair use" copyright law.

Said posts will be deleted in their entirety even if only one sentence is actionable.

2) Any copyrighted data is NOT ALLOWED to be posted on this board
This includes articles from most newspapers, trade publications, and Arbitron ratings (including 12+ ratings). Copying and pasting ratings from a site which has an Arbitron license is forbidden. In addition, Arbitron does not allow linking to sites, even licensed sites (for example, R&R Online) which contain ratings information.

Note that the above rule also prohibits the copy/paste of stories from places like WSJ, All Access, Yahoo, etc. Mods will edit or delete posts with full-text in them.

Suggested format to use when linking to articles is a two or three line summary with the link either directly before or after the summary.

Example:
~~~~~~~~~~
Lycan of the Orange County Register is reporting KKGO 1260/540 switches to Urban AC and is planning on replacing their now departed afternoon jock with Rick Dees.
Story: http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/entertainment/atoz/article_870579.php
~~~~~~~~~~

Also, if you're posting a link, place the [ url ] [ /url ] (no space in between the []'s and the URL) tags around the link, otherwise it will not be clickable from your post.

3) When replying to a post, please delete the prior post from within your post. What is happening is that some posts are so long - you have to hunt for the new content!

Of course, if you wish to quote from the post you are responding to, include that as a snippet.

This should make it easier to read the board.

And last but certainly not least:

4) Indie 103 posts
From now on, all of us request that you all limit discussions on 103.1/Indie/etc etc unless something newsworthy actually happens. And even then, try to stay within the scope of discussions and not break any of the Radio-Info Rules and Regulations. It has seemed that every topic on 103.1 recently has led to an all out warfest thus leading to the thread being closed. Let's remember that this is a Class A facility that can and will always have problems finacially/formaticly/personality wise and everything else(unless it goes Brokered Programming and even then that's no sure bet).

Josh feels that especially we must bring to light a issue that has long concerned us, but is no more so being pushed out in the open.

It seems everytime that a moderator does his job and control issues with this board and others that we moderate, critisism comes in all forms and particulary people feel the need to waste vaulable posting space critizing us for our actions. While we do understand that not all of you agree with our actions, the fact of the matter is, this is a private forum/site that is paid for by private investors. And even if this forum was paid for by Wall Street, that wouldn't give you any more freedom, in fact you would get less, because if you dared critizized a public company your topics would be closed faster then you can say Dow Jones. So I think we give you plenty of freedoms here, but there are rules. And one rule that especially is a NO NO to break is none other then Radio-Info rule 5 which states critism of the management/moderators and owners is not allowed on the forums, you MUST CONTACT US DIRECTLY AT OUR EMAILS for any concerns that you have/issues/beef/etc etc. Breaking this rule can lead to you being banned and yes, we have seen people banned just for breaking rule 5.

If you think you can do better then us, well go ahead and see if you can start your own messageboard via your own host or one of those "freebie board hosts" deals. If you're your own host, you'll have to pay money outta your pocket and server space ain't cheap. If you use a freebie deal, they have very strict rules about what content you can allow on your board and if they see something or are alerted by a copyright owner that material of theirs is on your board that ain't supposed to be, I will tell you upfront that they will shut down any message board that clearly violates their terms. The fact is, there are rules and we all have to follow them. As George Lopez says if you don't like it, don't look at it". You don't like our rules, we ain't forcing you to be here. But the majority of you won't even worry about this because you are all well behaved. But the FEW of you, YOU know WHO you are and you need to change or we'll do that for you. Change you to banishment that is.

Ok, everyone, let's note that discussion of politics that clearly does not relate to LA Radio, but rather such viewpoints as "KFI is a right wingers station" or KPFK is "that left wing idiot rantbox" are not allowed on this forum.

Let me direct you to a board right here at Radio-Info where you can knock the left wings and the right wings. But not the Chicken wings(I like those, yum.)
