UPN & the WB to merge...who'll carry it?

A Senior WLVI Source says...

A SENIOR WLVI SOURCE TELLS BTVN: "[This is] a great story for WLVI. We end up with a stronger network, stronger programming, a better news lead-in and one less competitor in town. I'm told the change won't mean anything as far as our news output goes... we will continue our one-hour Ten O'clock News [along with a new on-air look]."

CBS and TW are paying for CW's branding, marketing and launch
costs in local markets. It's a win-win for the cash-strapped WLVI and
its parent company.

There's a lot more in the local papers today :

Movie Loft might happen but not a chance of the Sox or Bruins coming back in the near future. The way the Sox are financially structured they need to keep as many games as possible on NESN, and the Bruins also financially benefit by keeping the games in-house. BTW Dave Shea is now in Washington doing radio for the Nationals so he's not likely to come back.

Of course channels 35 and 51 have the best signal with both towers on the same site in Gray overlooking Portland. Channel 23 is, I believe, located on the same hill in Litchfield (between Augusta and Lewiston) as MPBN channel 10. I too have thought of this same scenario. However, didn't Pegasus burn bridges with Fox when they went to the WB on WPXT?

Re: UPN & the WB to merge...who'll carry it in Northern VT/NY?

Yes, is there any word also what will happen in the Burlington-Plattsburgh market, as FOX 44 airs WB programming (with a time delay, of course) and WGMU 39 airs the UPN programming in our area. Makes me wonder if WGMU will take the reins as being our CW affiliate (which wouldn't surprise me, I don't see any of the other affiliates in our area jumping at the chance, except possibly WFFF, they do have more of an OTA range, compaired to WGMU).

Just my two cents :)
Edited by crazy25 on 01/27/06 04:21 AM.
