Great effort on everyone's part for last week's radiothon. Good cause and wonderful results!

And now the dirt.

Rumor out of the cheapiro camp is that XL92 is going to be making some changes very soon. The hint is their new logo. www.wgxl.com Look very a/c to me. Time will tell! Will the faces change? Stay tuned. In all honesty, this station needs something and maybe this will be it.

Another hot and heavy is that Oldies will be gone on 96.3 soon and replaced by sportsradio WEEI. Nassau promised Entercomm more FM's and this signal is prime for something else.

I still hear the rumor of a format swap with country going to the big 106.1 signal a la the WOLF and Q106's classic rock effort going to the 95.3/107.1 simulcast. Might be the difference between winning and losing the country battle for Wolf.

Could 101.7 sound any worse? Can't they at least put some sweepers in between the music? I know it'll be moving but...sheesh....Cheapiro and company shouldn't just write it off before they have to!

I hear the troops at 99 Rock are all excited because of the loss of a rock competitor at 93.9 and 107.1. They think it'll translate into higher ratings. I'm not so sure.

Speaking of 93.9. Talk about a radio station that has dead air! C'mon guys...fill the holes! Does anyone in that building actually listen to their radio stations?

How about the new team of Dorian Jaye and that woman (sorry don't know name) on WNTK? I think I've started to hear some of the same recycled bits he did at WCNL 20 years ago. They weren't that great then either.

Check out this not so obvious rumor. From what I hear at the UVR camp, the "Ops" in Ops Manager stands for "Ops" out of doing things. I hear the term "I don't know" is the standard answer. I even hear there is a part-timer that's in the building more the the "Ops". Hello Nassau, if you really are looking to take certain stations to #1, it may be worth looking into scooping up some real talent before another market kixx down the door, if ya know what I'm saying.
 
Yes, Yes, Yes, sure sounds like amateur hour on the valley's best radio stations! In fact I believe the REAL amateurs at Dartmouth College are sounding better than the EX-CC cluster- in fact the college kids are sounding better than most stations in the area these days. The real talent that carried those stations the last 2-3years have either been pushed to the curb or escaped to better jobs. It is a shame that these once great stations in the UV market have been transformed to spot taxis!!! ???

Well Harry, sure looks like you have some serious bitterness towards the new Jeffy group known as Upper Valley Radio. The above quoted slam and no mention of any UVR staff in your Polly Post except for John Bailey. Where you one of the people kicked to the curb? Consider yourself lucky.

I taped a C90 of The Fox 101.5 for a tape trader while in Land O' Ruts and they were promoting the FB&HW show... have never heard it, though. The Fox used to run Imus--their site used to open with a pic of
Imus and a voice saying "Imus in the Morning, classic rock all day".
 
Free Beer & Hot Wings is a dreadful show. They're living proof that even the blind monkey gets a syndicated nut once in a while. Stations could not have made a worse choice when they had to replace Imus. From Imus, one of the more heady & informative shows to one that relies on fart jokes and lot's of other gutter material that you hear on rock radio morning shows. Imus' "nappy..." comment notwithstanding of course. Someone @ Nassau should have hired Garrett and paired him with a saucy female when Imus went away. The Mighty Q could have ruled again!
 
With Imus coming back in January will Q bring him back and if the answer is no who in the UV might take a chance?
 
My 2 cent take would see Imus winding up on WMXR or even just WTSL in the UV, seems almost the logical thing to do. .. Nassau seems to be serving up a lot of FB & HW on a lot of their stations. See what the 'numbahs" bring.
 
I'm sure he will end up in the upper valley --- maybe southern NH --- I don't think you'll hear him on the Nassau dial - Imus is not the first pick for the folks in Nassau's Programming dept. Maybe the other broadcasters will air the I Man again!

They'd be stupid not to. I'm quite sure the Fennell/Brian thing is temporary. Personally I hope they do, Imus is missed in this market.

Next time I hear Free Beer and Hot Wings mentioned, it better be a Friday night special at the Olde Nugget.
