UPS's-How long are your lasting?

Just had one go poof after 4 years. I have another that has been working for over 10 years. I don't think I've found a manufacturer that makes a really dependable one (in the 1500 VA rated area). Anybody have any 1500 VA favorites?

It's a rechargeable battery. They need to be replaced from time to time. You can buy just a replacement battery for half the cost of the whole UPS. There are chains like Batteries Plus that sell them.

I'm very familiar with replacing batteries in UPS's, and I realize they need changing (depending on the unit and battery, every 2-5 years). Some of the better UPS's will give you a warning (light or beep) when batteries need to be replaced. What I am referring to, when I say the UPS went poof, I mean dead. The UPS has literally died, and won't come back to life, even with a new set of batteries. I've dealt with hundreds of these things over the years, and this is what I've found most of them do (just die), usually always at the worst time, and this is even with the most meticulous battery changing schedule. As part of your maintenance schedule, does anyone just replace them (the whole UPS), every 5 or 6 years? I rarely ever see one of these last as long as an AM or FM transmitter, or a decent piece of audio equipment. I guess what I'm asking is, is there a UPS (in the 1500 VA range) manufacturer, that has proven to be more rugged than all of the rest? I've mainly used APC stuff over the years. Is there anything more dependable out there?

Emerson-Liebert makes high quality UPS systems. Not cheap, but in my experience, they last.
I purchased an Emerson 1500 watt true sine wave UPS many years ago (1988). I replace the batteries every couple of years. After 26 years, it's still operating.

I have been usually considering UPS's for replacement after 10 years or so. I've been leaning away from APC the last couple of years. We have some Cyberpower and the new corporate standard, the Tripp-Lite online versions. I have had circuit breaker failures on two different APC units over the years.
