Finally, I am not the only one that seems Upstate SC radio needs a change!
Ellis and Bradley are my #1, however they do play a lot of commercials for my liking. However, in my opinion, they are at least tolerable. And I wish their last hour wasn't so obvious that it is voicetracked.
Charlie on WESC is almost a close tie with Ellis and Bradley until he gets to sucking on a piece of candy or sipping his coffee while talking on the mic at the same time. That's when the channel gets changed, but at least he stays up to date with his show prep. And as with WSSL, I wish you couldn't tell when the voicetracking takes over.
By the way, both WESC and WSSL need some imaging updates bad... as they sound very 5 yrs. ago... Someone should tell WESC that Reelworld has a great jingle package based on 99.5 WYCD under the country selection that would fit and update WESC to something better sounding than their older Reelworld package. Also, TM Studios/Young Guns Studios, has a great jingle package that 96.9 The Kat uses in Charlotte that would work well than those awful, dreadful jingles they use periodically that truelly doesn't fit Kix Layton's deeper voice, but the one's in Charlotte fit his voice well on his voicetracking he does for them! And yes, country is my genre of choice. 99.9 Kiss Country does well with their modified version of Reelworld One's jingle package.
Hawk and Tom are outdated. Point Blank. I think Heidi Aiken is what keeps them afloat because anyone who knows anyone in upstate radio knows she is fun to be around, can handle her beverages well, and is about the only thing real about that show. Spice it up and have Kato come out on the air, anyone in the gay community knows the real Kato... at least it would tap into that audience more, maybe it'll spice things up and resusitate that dry, flatlined show.
I've always kinda like John Boy and Billy for a good laugh. They have and always been consistent, hell, the sound of that show and its characters hasn't changed in 15+ years but contrary to Hawk and Tom, they have at least remained fresh and new with their show prep and what not.
Them new 2 on Magic 98.9 can be likeable if they were on another format. Putting 2 younger sounding talents on a station for people over 30-ish in age just doesn't mix well. I'd love to hear them on a Top 40 with all the bells and whistles of production and they'd make it.
My 102.5... I don't know that station exists until my seek stops on it. Dry... Just Dry!
The Rise Guys... can be funny, but 93.3 needs a better audio engineer, that whole station sounds like talking to someone with 2 cans and a string attached in the middle.
Tom Joyner, if he is still on 107.3 Jamz, he has staying power and isn't going anywhere.
Eddie and Sharon on 99.9 Kiss Country, well they need help, at least their music and jingle package keeps them sounding current!
