I know of two in MS that don't play any of those shows: 100.5 Vicksburg and 104.3 Greenwood. Other than that, it's very rare to find an urban AC that don't carry any of those shows.
KBLX in San Francisco was the longest running urban AC to escape the syndication bug. Once Steve Harvey takes over the mornings next week, the idea of a full 24-hour set of local programming on an R&B Soul station will be a complete thing of the past.
KMEZ in New Orleans would now be considered the only major urban market station geared towards adults to NEVER have a syndicated morning show.
AM urban ac's that are still local I can think of are KCOH Houston and WVOL Nashville.
Low power KDEE-LP 97.5 in Sacramento CA is all local no syndication at all. Not bad for a low powered station. For years KJLH in Los Angeles was always live until 2009.
Actually I think John Mason on WGPR was syndicated too but it was based in Detroit. Only station I can think of carrying the show was WOWE FM in Flint, Vassar, Michigan.
I may stand corrected but I may have seen that WNOV was going to pick up R. Smiley. When they returned to the air several months ago they had local gospel and talk in the mornings.
