Urban format in Jackson

Why isnt anyone else going after WFKX's numbers? K97 and Power both show up in their bookWhat about YNU? It sounds tired to me... Jackson isn't that much different from Memphis as far as demos go. The Urban demo seems under penetrated there.before someone says it... no i'm not on a urban kick... i've been listening to rock more than anything this week... I'm just looking from a business standpoint.

I suggested an urban-gold format for the rock station to Forever's Consultants.NOBODY wants to listen...Oh well,Gary BeginIdentity ProgrammingJackson, TN

yeah its probably not the same thing as saying some group doesn't do Jazz stations.. :)I worked at a chr station once in a none rated market that showed up in a market where it couldnt even be heard. I was without a doubt the #1 station in the area yet was making no money... I said on several times they should change the format to something urban since the demo was almost unserved... competition would have been another class a station 25 or 30 miles away.... you could not pick it up on most radios indoor with out rabbit ears connected ( the little wires weren't enough ) you could forget it on a clock radio....later the station was sold and changed to oldies and did no betterthen became urban 100% jockless and in 2 mos had trippled ad revenuethe station today 10 yrs later is still jockless and I don't think it's hurting but isn't doing quite as well but probably good. Others in the area have seen the same decline.never listened to 95.7 much since i'm in Memphis so I have no idea what the spotload is like
