The call sign change is still pending at the FCC. When tied to a sale, typically the call sign change is granted upon station close. Per the purchase agreement, the closing date is to be within 10 business days of FCC approval -- so, in this case, the closing date can be now through the middle of next week since it was approved 6/23.

Urban One to Acquire KKDA and KRNB, Divest KZMJ

I haven't been able to find the announcement. Did he specifically say, "97.9 The Beat," or did he just say, "97.9?" Admittedly, urban is a little outside my wheelhouse, but he seems to be on more urban AC stations than urbans. If, however, he said, "97.9 The Beat," that would seem to indicate that station won't be seeing very many changes.

Looks like KBFB posted "Rickey Smiley is coming back to 97.9 The Beat in Dallas-Fort Worth. The Rickey Smiley Morning begins Monday at 5AM" on their website, but the link now seems to be gone.
I wonder if that means Majic is going to 97.9 and KRNB stays at 105.7. Surprising since 105.7 is the better Urban AC.
I've got one up on you. Check this out....
They could be moving KRNB over to 97.9 and running Rickey instead of Harvey since it’s in house. They also might keeps the KKDA and KRNB in place and adjust KBFB musically. They could also be leaving everything the same and just swapping out The Morning Hustle for the stronger morning show. Who knows? Time will tell.

Seems like between Smiley post of moving the "97.9 the Beat" and this, the inference is 97.9. I wonder if they keep the "Beat" brand (a new skin), but the "Beat" is musically positioned between KRNB and K104???
