Urgent need for Continental 815A 5KW FM Power transformer

Hi folks,

Our WGOG in Walhalla, SC took a major lightning strike this past Tuesday night and has been off the air ever since.

Among the items taken out is the power transformer. Continental doesn't have one. The company that makes them for Continental hasn't made one in years. We have checked with Peter Dahl Company and they can't make us one for 6 weeks...that's a rush order. We're contacting Commercial Radio Company in Vermont to see if they have one.

We could put an exciter on but this site is well elevated but about 10 miles from any population so it wouldn't help us much. We have a 500 watt loaner on its way.

If any one knows where we could find one of these, please let me know. My email is [email protected] or our COO Tom Stanwood can be reached at 706-297-7143. We would appreciate any suggestions, help, advice, etc.

Have you tried Charlie Goodrich?

goodrichenterprises.com

Is it 3 phase or single phase? Is there anything "special" about a 815 power supply or is it a plain ol' transformer delivering aprox 5000 volts at aprox 2-3 amps?
I will put your info on the Radio-tech list. Maybe Dave Hultsman will know where one of these xmitters lives as a standby.
