US House mulls additional funds for NOAA Weather Radio

Earlier this week, the US House Committee on Science Space and Technology held a hearing on NOAA Weather Radio to consider a bipartisan bill allocating $200 million to maintain and expand the NWR service. Among the topics the bill requests be studied are backup audio feeds to improve reliability.

The bill is quite early in the legislative process, but it does have the backing of the House committee chairman.
