US OPEN MEN'S FINAL AIRS ON CBS TODAY

Julius May said:
At 4 PM ET/1 PM PT. Will your CBS station air it live?
Given what's offered on the network at that hour today, this is kind of a dumb question (One that only you would ask Julius but I digress *sigh* ). That said, will it p*ss off ET/CT stations? Yes

But considering yesterday was 9/11/11 & there was football, what choice did the network really have (Other than putting it on CBS Sports Network) ??

If this were any other year, I don't think CBS would even consider this

Cheers & 73 :D

I found nothing wrong with the question in the first post of this topic. As for the second post, why is yesterday's date in bold, numeral form?

If one searches (using ZIP Codes) on zap2it.com, one can find what a given CBS affil
is doing re tennis.

I found it live in NYC (4-7 ET), CHI (3-6 CT), DEN (2-5 MT), PHX and TUS (1-4 PT),
and LAX (1-4 PT). Choose other markets at your leisure.

Maybe I missed something, but shouldn't tennis have wrapped up with the time slot
yesterday (Sun 09/11)? Was there a rain out at some point?

Tennis was delayed by rain on Saturday and the local newscast from my CBS station began later than usual. The original question in this topic may be used in reference to CBS stations with new syndicated games set to premiere today.

That explains why I couldn't watch "Jeopardy" Saturday night.

It would be nice if I could remember if I saw it the first time, but I almost never do. I enjoy it as much as if I never saw it, and learn a bunch of "new" stuff.

The only syndie game returning today is Family Feud. Jeopardy and Wheel return next week (on Friday, Jeopardy included a plug for the Watson episodes re-airing Monday-Wednesday this week, followed by the finals of the teachers' tournament.) That said, those schedules were determined long before any rainouts would have led to schedule updates at the US Open.

Oh, good, they promised us Watson and I thought new episodes were supposed to start Labor Day. But the NBC station, which previewed new NBC shows on Saturday night, probably wouldn't have any problems tonight.

MYKSMOTV showed it today.
Yes their were some Delays because of Rain on ESPN coverage that moved the last final to today and CBS showed a 9/11 thing last night.

Meantime, their prime time line-up is in repeats. Why run this at 4PM? It makes no sense. Pre-empt the repeats in prime time rather than local news.

Anderson Cooper's new syndicated show was supposed to premiere today at 4pm on KPHO (CBS 5) in Phoenix. It's 4:17 MST/PDT and U.S. Open coverage is still in progress. KPHO has a ticker on the bottom of the screen indicating that they're going to air the premiere tomorrow at 3pm.

It's now just past 8 ET/5 PT and tennis is still on CBS.

I imagine CBS News is getting a bit antsy as they probably want to do an
Evening News for the left coast at 5:30 PT (to repeat at 6/6:30).

BTW, if your AZ or left coast market airs the net news tonight, let us know
if the stopsets are filled with PSAs or local avails.

Watching it on KPHO now...looks like the standard national advertisers. (Does CBS offer affiliates local avails in the newscast?)

Let me just ask the question, because I really don't know the answer. Is this event really a ratings-producer?

If the 'cast airs only in the west, it may air unsponsored, with PSA/promo fill that can be
covered by local spots. As stated, the 6 PM PT feed seemed to have normal spots. That
and how it seemed to be a "sterile" newscast makes me wonder if it was put together
earlier this evening (6:30 ET?) and held for the left coast feeds. For example, there
was a story on how Serena Williams was fined for an outburst in yesterday's tennis,
but no mention at all on today's extend-o-match with the guys.

I also wonder what was fed for a shortened first feed from (approx.) 5:38-5:59 PM PT,
since the tennis coverage didn't end until 5:37 PT.

The story was mentioned early in the broadcast before the match.

OK, I'm confused. You stated the story was mentioned in the broadcast, but apparently
there was no CBS Evening News aired in (at least) ET/CT due to tennis airing from
4:00-8:37 ET/3:00-7:37 CT. If you're in Mobile (CT), how did you see the newscast?

The 6 PM PT feed occurred after tennis ended, assuming it was live then, although
I have my doubts.
