Brooke Malone out 2 weeks ago and no repacement........?Word is Matt Price is out first week of May.......?Whats going on?Who's moving in?

Yes, I am moving back up North Next week, my last day at US Stations will be on Friday. Thanks to everyone who made the Stop in Hot Springs, awesome.US Stations definetely stepped up to the plate after they took over from Powell.I expect great things to happen with the stations.ThanksMatt

US Stations appears to be a class act from what I"ve heard. I'm sure whatever changes are made they will be top notch. You have to remember, that group of stations was neglected and abused by Powell Broadcasting. Powell Broadcasting was a laugh and the management was a real hoot to attempt to work with. It was the simple things they ignored. As an example, for over 6 months you never heard a station ID at the top of the hour! It's like they didn't even care. I had to laugh when after the first week of the sale...US Stations had that ID in place and running.

The radio market in Hot Springs is alot better than it was in the days of Powell Broadcasting or even the Kellstrom years.Good luck to those in commmand -- you're doing a great job.

I can't really hear the other stations at the hacienda in Bryant, but I've gotta say as far as country goes I listen to US 97 much more than I listen to KSSN. It is sounding really, really good. Craig isn't doing a bad job on the morning show either.... It just seems like there is finally some stabliity over there that they haven't ever had while I have been listening.

Well, I never really had my question answered.Matt went back north? What happened with US Stations? Did they just let him go. The whole BRooke Malone thing went silent also. I thought she was an outstanding broadcaster. Did Matt go to a better opportunity?Brooke?

Appreciate the interest in what's going on here.Matt Price received an unsolicited offer from Waitt Radio Network (his previous employer). He'll be handling afteroons on 16 Classic Rock stations and be the music director. Matt and his wife Steph have a baby due soon, so going back to be near his parents made sense to him. Not to mention the significant increase in pay. He made a great contribution to our stations and will be missed.Brooke received an offer with a good increase to be part of a morning show in a top 75 market in Delaware. Both are excellent young air talents. Watch them both, their careers are on the rise.We are in search mode at this time and will announce new staff members soon.Thanks to all who such kind remarks about our group. I think it says alot about the stations there that the employees can get higher paying jobs in bigger markets. It means that they employ good people, with many skills. Obviously, they hate to lose good people, but that's the way it goes sometimes when you run a good operation. I don't think it means that anything is going wrong, rather just the normal course of business.

Dang it Craig, wouldn't you know I just bought a house down here in Texarkana. A year ago, I would have been beating down your door but I think I work for the only other class act in radio these days. (Quit smiling Mr. Gray!) I just want you to know how much I appreciate what you have done with those stations. Hot Springs is my hometown and they deserve a good group of stations. Lord knows the advertising dollars are just out there for the taking. I hope you guys make a fortune!!! Do me a favor and give Tom Duke a big, slobbery kiss from me.....Tracey

thanks for your kind comments, tracy. we have tried to move the stations forward, but they are still very much "works in progress."it certainly helped that we inherited a good staff from powell. they just needed direction and some hope. we just recently raised salaries and hope to do that again soon along with talent fees. to attract and keep good talent, i believe, you've got to provide a good working environment. and that includes having good equipment, not overworking the staff and paying them better than average wages.heard you before you moved to texarkana. you are sounding good. don't get too comfortable in t-town. one day somebody from a much bigger market is going to be traveling I-30 and hear you. best regards to you and jack,craig

LOL...I'm too old to move anymore! Plus, I found a house with a pool. Unless it's within driving distance, I'm here to stay. But, I do really appreciate your kind words. I'll never forget the day I left US for KLAZ. Ted Mahn asked me why I was leaving and I said because I didn't trust Powell Broadcasting. He looked stunned and turned to Tom and asked the same question of him. Duke, in his perfect Texas drawl, said, "Nope...I don't trust ya either." I still felt horrible for leaving Tom and Trent with 5 stations and only two part-timers. You guys understand that to build a quality station and to receive those advertising dollars in a smaller market, you have to treat your staff fairly. When Powell was in town, I can't tell you how many times as an employee I was asked by residents if they were as bad as they were. Of course, being employed by them at the time....what could I say? What Powell's management failed to realize is that listerners aren't just nameless, faceless people...they are potential advertisers. Your on-air staff is your first contact with many possible advertisers. Everytime a phone rings either the listerner line or the business office, it should be answered with respect. Sure, sometimes it's a nut case on the other end but who knows that nutcase could just have an extra $20,000 to spend on advertising. And Lord knows, even the nutcases are, at the very least, entertaining!I believe having a happy staff who brag about what a great company they work for is yet another selling tool. Believe me, your staff brags about you because most of them remember the dark days. Tracey
