"It is with great sadness that I report to you that Mark (McClain)Horton passed away early this morning after a very long illness. All of us here at Clear Channel are shocked and saddened by these turn of events. Mark's brother, Paul (Kelley) Horton, our OM , asked that I share this with you. Mark was 36. He was one of the brightest, funniest people I have ever known. Please keep his family and friends, many of who will see this , in your thoughts and prayers. I will share information about services when it becomes available."
Mark had just come home from his honeymoon when I started at CC Springfield in October 2004. We worked in the same building for a little over a year, but our paths didn't cross much. I came to respect his humor and immense talents partly from noting his name on the many awards and accolades on the walls, but mostly from the high regard of his peers. I always got a kick out of the days that we both wore our overalls to work ("see you got the memo, too" "yep"). He was so very well-respected in the building, the community, and by those he touched that you couldn't help wanting to be around him. I wish I had made more time to get to know him better.
He always had a smile to share, a positive spirit, and just the right bit of humor at just the right moment. The shock and sadness this morning when we heard the news was overwhelming. I think I'm still too stunned to really believe it. May God Bless his wife, his parents, his family, and friends from all over. He will be greatly missed.
