USB Tuner For Laptop (Recommendations)

I have a Artec usb tuner for my laptop.

I never really cared for it and was wondering if anyone had any other recommendations for a USB tuner for a laptop. I have Windows 7 64 bit.

I don't own a "real TV" (I can't get signals in my flat) so if I really want to watch something I take the laptop to the library and plug it in.

The only thing I would like is the ability for the usb tuner to use Win Media Center.

I don't record TV or anything like that, so I don't need anything fancy. I just prefer using Media Center over the software that you have to install

Thanks.

Hauppauge WinTV Aero-M. It has the 7th generation LG chip in it, and is the best tuner I have ever used. One of their other models has that chip as well, but there are several revisions of it with no guarantee you will get the one with the LG chip in it.

Do you know if it be used with Linux/VLC/Myth-TV?

(I'm actually looking for one, myself, as well. Preferrably one that also supports DVBS and Diseqc, but if an ATSC-only module is all I can get, then so be it.)

Yes, I use mine in Linux with Kaffeine, which means it should work with Myth TV I think. I did have to compile the ko for it though.

I don't think there's a decent ATSC tuner out there that also does DVB-S. I have the TeVii S660 which does have a Linux driver but I had to order it from Taiwan and I've never actually used it in Linux. (It's hooked to my Windows computer for TSReader.)

Thanks, tripinva.

I know there are combination ATSC/DVBS set-top receivers (I've used one myself on a daily basis for years) but lugging that around *and* the laptop would probably be a bit extreme... ;o) If there aren't USB implementations of such hardware available yet, hopefully somebody will cruft one together soon.
