Usher - DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love on AC?

I notice that there are a few AC stations playing this. Anybody heard it? I don't really mind it, but I'm still burned out on this one from a couple of years ago.

Funny because it isn't that old but barely charted on AC in 2010 or 2011. Why would stations start adding a song a couple of years after it was released instead of when it was originally released/charting? "Dynamite", "I Gotta Feeling", and a few of Gaga's tracks were like this also. My main gripe about songs like this crossing from CHR to AC is that they were already burned to death on CHR just a year or two ago.

I've also heard Usher and David Guetta's "Without You" on WSB here in Atlanta.

"Without You" actually is charting, though, and was just a hit - 'DJ' didn't even chart a couple of years ago and is suddenly popping up on these AC's. It's just kinda strange that these songs didn't chart when they were initally released (like "Just Dance" and even "Poker Face") but these stations don't have any problem playing them just 2-3 years later...

I actually might have a problem with this...I understand that this type of music fits AC and the reason for playing it, but I'm so sick of some of these rhythmic crossovers from CHR/Hot AC that I certainly don't want to now hear an AC burning them to death. Maybe it's just me, but I tire of the dance-pop Taio Cruz/Rihanna/Katy Perry/Lady Gaga stuff much faster than The Script/OneRepublic/John Mayer type stuff. CHR, Hot AC, now AC...guess I'll have to go to classic hits and adult hits to escape the "rhythm" :-\

I've noticed that with the Hot AC station here in Detroit, WDVD. I never heard tracks like "Poker Face" and "I Gotta Feeling" until probably 2011. I guess as Hot AC goes more CHR and AC goes more Hot AC, it makes sense you'll hear more of these songs to bring in the younger demos.

I agree. I got into Hot AC a few years ago because I wanted to hear One Republic/Goo Goo Dolls/Lifehouse. After Hot ACs all over have gone more rhythmic heavy in order to follow CHR, I've gone back to Alternative, as that format seems to be lighter as of lately.

Also heard on KXXO Olympia [96.1] occasionally. WTH is it doing on AC?!? It's 100% Hot AC in my opinion.

Looking at the AC recurrent chart, "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" isn't receiving as much airplay on the format as I thought - around 175 plays in a week - the leaders are AC's with more of a risky/"cutting edge" history like WLTW/NYC (has been rhythmic friendly for years), WDOK/Cleveland, WBEB/Philadelphia, and KVIL/Dallas (who is even playing artists like Gotye), then stations like KBZN/SLC and WLNK/Charlotte which straddle the line between Hot AC and AC. Still, it's pushing the envelope IMO.

"Without You" is, though, more of a ballad-type track that lyrically fits the AC format. The sound is different, but it's "lighter" rhythmic than "Dynamite" or "I Gotta Feeling" which the format doesn't mind playing. It doesn't seem to have been extremely popular on AC, a lot of stations seem to have skipped it entirely.
