Ushy(Ushay) passes?.......

I just read that Dallas/Ft. Worth urban radio pioneer Ushy passed away. Is this true? For those don't know Ushy, in his career, he has mixed for K104, KRNB, and even Magic 102. He was the creator of "Funk and Roll". So can anybody confirm this?

Just found out that funeral services will be Saturday, 3pm at the Golden Gate Funeral Home. I would also like to say that I am disappointed that no one remembers this man, or just didn't bother to post anything concerning him. Everytime a radio legend passes, there's comments. Ushy was a urban radio legend in DFW. He mixed on several local stations and at several local nightclubs. Why am I surprised though.....

Honestly I never heard of him,and never really listened to Mix 102 or K104,so I couldn't comment. May he be at peace.

Strangely enough, I heard of the guy for the first time Saturday, and before your post. I was mining a couple of thrift stores for old electronics, and saw a CD called "Ushy." It only caught my attention because I thought it was either an early version of "Usher" or some spoof of Usher's work. Sorry to hear he passed. Do you have a link to his obit? I can at least add him to the 'death roll' on my site when I ever get the site back online.

Very sad. I do remember him. How old was he?! What happened? Had he been sick for awhile or was this a sudden death? If anyone has details, please share.

I remember Ushy when was on KNOK. Now those were the days.......

As a shout out......S-T-A-R-Z.....STARZ BABY.....

I'm shocked to hear the news about Ushy. I remember that he used to be a rep for Luke records when I was program director at the now-defunct-for-life KLGV/KARW back in late spring of 1993. He then called me and introduced me to a new goup to put on the radio called H-Town. I remember the days when he was doing his mixshow at K104 back in the day. Man those were the good ol' days. Ushy will be greatly missed.

Ushy was always a stop down on KNOK. Those were the days with Dwayne Dancer and Scott West. When he went to K104, this market (urban wise) hasn't been the same since.

He will be missed.

My wife worked with Ushy way back in the day. His passing came as quite a shock. I've yet to hear any details.....anybody know?

Heard on the Willis Johnson show this morning that Ushy's family needs help with some expenses.

The link to the obiturary from Dallasnews.com site.....
