Using a mixer with Adobe

Is it connected to the mic port? I had a heckuva time figuring out how to hook up my mixer. I finally paid a guy from Radio Shack $20 to come do it for me. Money well spent. Now I can do it myself.

I'll be honest with you I am ready to call somebody from radio shack or any shack right about now. I don't think its a problem with my connections because the mixer is picking up my audio from the mic and the Cubase software is picking it up as well. I think it a setting in Adobe that I need to change. I went through the Adobe help pdf and can't find an answer. So I am hoping that some of the advanced Adobe users will help me out. I can't seem to get into the Adobe website from my job right now that is the only reasons I haven't hit their site up yet.

I'm terrible with the terminology, but you need a tiny plug (like an old transistor radio headset) to go into the computer. (mine is on the front of the computer, not in back) Mate that with the line coming out of the mixer and you should be good to go. But honestly, its worth a few bucks to have an expert figure it out for you.
Hopefully this will help and not just add further confusion. Either way, I feel ya brotha. I was never so frustrated as I was when trying to figure this thing out. Good luck!

An outboard mixer with Adobe is really kind of redundant. If you're doing voice over exclusively, all you need is a good mic pre. I use a Symetrix 528e at home and that goes straight in to my sound card. All my music for the spots I do are on cd so I just rip that in to the session with Adobe.
If you want to record you band or do multi-tack simultaneous recording, you need a multi I/O unit. MOTU has a few cool models ranging from a couple hundred bucks for a 2 in unit and up to around 600.00 for and 8 in.

If you've got AA 1.5, I seem to recall that it was not compatable with the Alesis USB/FW mixers...Some driver recognition issue or firmware issue. It's a problem with the mixer, not AA. The Mackie Onyx mixers work fine, as do most other USB/FW devices. However, AA2.0 uses ASIO drivers, and such, should work fine with the ALesis board.

Are you trying to have AA 1.5 recognize each channel as a track? It won't do that..BUT it might work as an interface device so that you can record and playback with it. But it won't do with AUDITION what it was designed to do with CUBASE. You can search the Adobe website. That may answer a few questions..

Apparently AA 1.5 will only work (USB'wise) with the Mackie Controller Universal. However even with that interface it won't do auto faders or automated mixing in 1.5. That is where 2.0 is really great if we can forget that is really a whole new software..and not "really" Adobe Audition..they should have called it something else..If you're still having problems..feel free to call. I have a lot of time messing around with the various USB interfaces.
