utica tower accident

In the late 40's or early 50's, not sure exactly when, my father was offered a job to climb the WKTV tower. Maybe to change lights. He was a Niagara Mohawk lineman. I believe he was offered $200, which was a lot of money back then. He turned down the job. The man who took it fell from the tower and was killed. I was told that Myron Kallet, was so distressed over the incident, that was why he sold the station. It might have happen before the station went on the air. My mother had remarked over the years that if my father had taken the job and fell there wouldn't have been me.
