Utica WIBX Sportswatch

I am new to the greater Central New York area, and have been fascinated with local sports radio for a long time. Hearing local people talk about sports in their community interests me a great deal, especially when you are new to that city or town's landscape. Let me just say that in my 25 years of listening to local sports coverage throughout the U.S. no show I've heard has done a better job with its own city's sports scene/beat than WIBX's Sportswatch. Although some of their national sports coverage sometimes makes me turn my AM dial elsewhere, their spotlights of high school and colegiate athletes is second to none. The hosts of the program, Dave and I believe George have superior interviewing skills, I really like how they go out of their way to make high school athletes comfortable in their studio, at least it comes over that way while on the air. But most of all, I look forward every Monday to when the hosts speak to someone who apparently used to be a former intern at the program, and now attends Syracuse University. I presume this kid is still in college, but he absolutely knows his stuff. As a sports fan, I knew just the basics about SU basketball-Boeheim, McNamara, Big East, etc. But thanks to this kid's insight and I have to credit the hosts of the show for asking him good questions, I now find myself following every Orange game. If anyone on this website knows who I'm talking about, knows if hes graduating or working somewhere else after basketball season, whatever Id like to know? He seems like someone whos talented enough to truly keep track of.

Thanks
Wildman

It is consistent with the long proud history and tradition of that station. Their news, their sports, their committment to excellence and the community are unsurpassed in central New York, unsurpassed in many bigger cities around the U.S.
