V-103 ratings question

I've been aware for some time that V-103 has been the top spotter in Atlanta for as long as many remember, with a few expcetions where WSB notched them down a few times and only once where R&B rivals Majic topped them and Kiss tied with V back in June. So my question is when was the very first time WVEE took the ratings crown soon after it launched in 1976? This has sparked my curiousity so thanks.

This would be a great question for Mr. Eduardo, though he doesn't visit the atl boards often. I believe he has a link to historical ratings data in his signature, though.

I remember reading an article in Billboard around 1980-81 that V-103 was fighting it out for #1 with WSB. Keep in mind V-103 started in 1976 as a disco station and evolved into urban.

Yes V-103 was #1 for years (early 80's) as I remember seeing the ratings in Billboard. They had something like a 15 rating, which was higher than the next 3 or 4 stations combined! Of course they had no competition back then, and were able to stay at the top for a really long time after that (even with competition)........and I used to listen.

But in the mid 80's when they veered away from Dance-Pop-Disco (which was what created them) and took a more Rap ride, I bailed, even though others did not.
