V-103's Miss Sophia let go

He/she had big and unique personality, really distinguished the station from everybody else, and served dutifully and successfully for many, many years. So OF COURSE he/she had to go. Entertainment is not what radio does.

Not suprised at all. V-103 is dishin out the big bucks to Ryan, Frank and Greg. Cuts had to be made somewhere. So thats Joyce Littel and Miss Sophia so far, whos next?

It sounds like CBS is "circling the wagons" and solidifying their programming so that doesn't have any holes in the line-up for the near future. However, it was groundbreaking for CBS to allowing an openly gay and cross-dressing personality on Deep Southern yet major market.

Openly gay? The guy is a comedian. Yes, he cross dresses, but that's his act. Maybe I'm just naive, but if he's openly gay, that's the first I've heard of it.

well here's what they should really do, although my friend naki says no, cause they're number 1, but i believe they should probably NOT renew frank ski's next contract (although i think he just signed one), so they can move ryan cameron and rashaan ali to mornings. i think wanda should probably stay, but would probably be let go if frank ski left. they could put some1 in the afternoon for a fraction of what they pay ryan, and wah-laa, there's more money saved. i'm sure clark howard would approve :)

Uh, Joe aka "Miss Sophia" has referenced his sexuality even on-air in inadvertent references a number of times over the past 4 years.

I think there is something BETWEEN THE LINES here........perhaps a long
running ego battle at the station. Something we don't know about.
Maybe she was constantly late for work.......or........made bad coffee??????
Watch your back!
Miss Sophia says "I got put out on the streets, by V to the one oh
333333333333333333333!"

If CBS is firing the openly gays I think someone at DAVE may need to be worried. As a learned poster wrote above, it was a money issue, that's all. I can't say who but the person's name rhymes with "Floin Blee."

Atlanta has a LARGE black gay community so I don't think it has nothing to do with him being gay. Miss Sophia has been well known in the black gay community way before Frank Ski brought him on to V. Frank Ski, DJ Tay Rock and DJ Danny Class have all DJ'd at black gay clubs here in ATL so i see no discrimination. SN..Rickey Smiley's morning show has an black openly gay male entertainment reporter.

Yeah, it does. I believe it was an age thing because "Miss Sophia" is knocking on 40's door as well. There aren't any young people on the mic during the mornings aside from the occasional word from Nina Brown or Mark D. Elle Duncan is suppose to migrate from middays to the show on June 14th, thus bringing a young voice to the morning show. V-103 wants to stay competitive with the 25-34 end of their broad audience scope (18-49 years) to prevent them from migrating elsewhere.

I think V-103 is rolling the dice. Miss Sofia was widely popular.........when
the dust settles, it could be bad news, it could be good news.
