New calls just heard on 99.3.
______________

This is odd -- I once worked at a station
with those call letters....back in the mid 80s.

Yeah, I found that, too. Apparently an urban station in the Lake Charles area. I found it after I had already posted the new calls. That made me check the FCC database just to make sure I was really hearing things correctly.

As of yesterday, if you search FM for White Oak, Texas, you still see their calls as KLBL...but if you click the "Call Sign Changes" link, you'll see that KVEE was granted on 8/15/05. It might be different today, so this information may be a day late and several dollars short.

Enjoy!
______________

I know that back in the 70's the call letters were KVEE AM/FM in Conway, Arkansas. The AM was on 1330 and is now off the air.... The FM on 105.1 upgraded to 100,000 watts, changed the call letters to KMJX and became Magic 105, Arkansas' legendary classic rock station.

I'm surpised 107 Jamz in Lake Charles haven't shut down the kvee.net website because their call letters are now KJMH.

From listening to the first few seconds of the song after the legal ID this station is not a true Urban AC, more like a Rhythmic AC. Sound like they were playing Christina Aguilera's Beautiful after the ID and we know that's not an Urban AC song. There is still a big hole for a true Urban AC in Tyler-Longview area. If someone signed on one then KVEE will probably tighten up their list.

Actually, I'm kinda not. Seems that some radio stations' owners don't put a premium on an up-to-date website.

BTW...when did their calls change? And if it was to allow KLBL to change to those calls, wonder how much $$$ was involved?
______________

It doesn't look like there was cash involved, judging from the time line: the Lake Charles station gave up the KVEE calls to become KJMH 02/26/04. Records show that they weren't parked anywhere until Reynolds picked them up, effective 08/15/05.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like Rusty either did his homework on the calls or just got really lucky to find them available.
______________
