I'm in need of a beer, too. It seems to me that V-99.3 is literally train-wrecking it for a mass appeal audience let alone the African-American audience in NE Texas. If they are going to mix something that doesn't fit into the fold, then I think they'll be in for a short leash in the next Arbitrons.
What I think Robert is doing to this now is just add some temporary variety to the format for a while.
All they are doing is that they are getting some of the bugs out to make it more listener friendly. It will take time for them to get a really true urban AC playlist rolling in order to grab the 25-49 age group. I say let the frequency breathe for a minute.
As for KYKX.....why the hell do we have to push this issue? Access 1 appears to be treating it more and more like a beaten stepchild let alone all of the others. If Access 1 has a plan of action of turning a once dominant country station into an urban adult powerhouse and program the whole thing right on the first hit, then V-99 will have to flip frequencies. After all, they're 50,000 watts, KYKX is 100,000. The Blaze, a measly combined wattage of almost 17,000.
Anyone checked their website, yet?
