So what?
Now they're a CRAP station in HD. Big deal!

I'm assuming a "Rap reference" which V100 doesn't play and hasn't been heard on 100.3 since May 18th 2006.

Aside from that, it sounds ok, but let's not forget who the biggest group of people is in LA. Add on a 300-350 million investment and you have wasted signal.

No...

No, I meant they're now a CRAP station in HD! Radio One: "The Urban Media Specialist???!!! " I don't think so!

They are so DUMB that they went into Boston believing that it was 15% black..well it is...and 14% of them are CARIBBEANS- not African Americans! They programmed hip hop there for about 1000 lsteners.

The only thing that saved their butt there is that Entercom was willing to way overpay for a stick value 6000 watt FM signal from them.

In Philadelphia, they took a top 5 legendary station and changed its format-to Hip hop! It has 1/4 of its former ratings now.

Here in LA they have a 50,000 watt FM station that doesn't even have 50,000 listeners. Pathetic.

They went into Boston knowing the market (CMSA) is 5.1% black. In the Arbitron MSA 12+ it is 6.3%. That should be good enough for a 3.5 to 4 share, a reasonable assumption for them to make.

The Boston radio (MSA) market is about 7% Hispanic, and the majority group is Puerto Ricans who are not, with few exceptions, Black.

It's 5,300 watts from Mt Wilson. And it cumes about 600,000 listeners just a few months after a format change.

MJ,

You're right..it's nice that the Arbitron subscriber David can add in his facts to the conversation. If he really wanted to be helpful rather than his usual know it all response he'd explain what it mean to be 5,300 watts from Mt. Wilson...how bout it David...let the non subscribers and non techies know all about HAAT, etc...just how good is V's signal from the mountain and what does their recent growth mean to your stations?

5300 watts from Mt. Wilson makes the station the second lowest powered commercial station sitting at the top of the hill. Lower still is KSCA, with 4800 watts (#1 25-54 in LA) and just a bit higher is KIIS, one of the market's perennial billing leaders. If your point is that any power, even low, from Wilson will cover the market nicely, you are right.

Even at 5300 watts, the station is in excess of a confornming B at that height, making it and all the commercial stations on that hill "superpower" facilities, although the commish only protects them to the extent of the conforming 54 dbu contour.

The recent growth of the V does not affect "my stations" at all... never did, under the old format, and will not under the new one.
