V103 Rumblings

Rumor has it Big Tigger may become a permanent employee at V103? Question is, what shift? He did fill in for Ryan Cameron for about a week back in October. He's one of Reggie Rouse's favorites and has previously worked for CBS at sister station WPGC in Washington, DC.

If and that is an "if", Darian does become a full-timer there, it will likely be to replace Greg Street during nights. Rick Caffety wouldn't let Reggie Rouse tinker with a winning formula with Frank & Wanda or Ryan Cameron (now with Crash Clark as a co-host). First, these personalities are bringing in the big bucks and #1 ratings in key dayparts. Secondly, both F&W and RC have just re-inked their contracts in the past few months. Finally, Street is basically "aged out" of the younger (12-24 year olds) demographics of the 6-10PM timeslot. He came back after former PD Tony Brown got him to come back from K104 in Dallas.

If Street did exit then would be likely dedicate himself full-time to producing mixtapes, something he has been doing for years now...

Kila, I always thought Lil Bankhead and DJ Infamous (The Loud Pack) would take weeknights 6pm-10pm.

I have felt they would be the "heirs apparent" as well. However, I doubt Rick Caffety would allow Big Tigger to take over their leading slots (mornings, afternoons) when their target demographics for each are 25+ year olds while 18-34 being secondary. I've listened to Tigger when he was still doing mornings and afternoons on WPGC, and his audience is obviously 18-34 year olds. V-103 has maintained its wide reach due to its personalities being catered to the advertiser-friendly end of the 18-49 year olds (25+), but musically programmed themselves to be targeting 18-34 years. Unless Frank Ski doesn't get his permanent contract renewed and walks, the only full time slot that he would capable of doing while aligning with his style of show would be weeknights from 6 to 10pm.

Breaking Ski to bow out

Rodney to soon report change is a coming to mornings at V 103. Good scoop, stand by, details soon.

hmmmmm, is the Ryan Cameron Morning Show making a debut on V103 soon? I'm hearing it's a possiblity that Frank Ski maybe out and Big Tigger takes afternoons.

Yeah, that is what I heard as a major possibility as well from a very reliable source this morning. Darian being back in the afternoons at the last true major market CBS full-service urban station isn't really all that surprising. I also heard that Elle Duncan maybe coming back as well...

Rodney Ho, you might need to pay very close attention to what Elle Duncan will be doing in the next few weeks at 11 Alive.

And Ramona DeBreaux as well.

I heard the Elle rumor too,but I hope she stays at 11 Alive. Ryan Cameron and Ramona with Crash D would be great for mornings. It's like HOT 97.5 all over again ;D The Urban morning show choices in ATL is saturated. Can't forget Rashan Ali's new morning show at STREETZ 94.5 which is sounding pretty decent with less talk and celebs about every morning. BTW, I don't think ATL would vibe well with Big Tigger, atleast in the beginning. Kenny Burns would kill afternoons but my bet is Reggie woud go after Big Tigger(we all know why).

It's amazing to actually see how many people in ATL hate Frank & Wanda's Morning Show according to various social sites.

:'( people are actually crying calling the station. Behind the scenes, Frank & Wanda has done a lot in the African American community here in Atlanta. Wanda Smith also has an annoucement shortly...

He sounded kind of vague regarding what his plans are. Does he have any?

He said he'll focus on the Frank Ski Brand which i'd assume includes his restaurant, foundations and brand of wine. Steve Harvey and Rickey Smiley called in and said V103 was making a big mistake!

[EDIT-reference to deleted content removed]

WAMJ has Steve Harvey, and WHTA is the home station for Rickey Smiley. Unless Steve Harvey stopped doing his radio show, which is not impossible given his workload, he'll stay on WAMJ.

The other option is Kiss 104.1. Tom Joyner is aging. But I'm not sure what that might mean given contractual arrangements between Joyner and Cox for a number of Cox stations. But at this point, Ski could do well on Kiss or on several Cox Urban AC's.
