There's 36 FM's & 34 AM's

Will I beable to pick up stuff on FM without LA booming in from the south

That will depend on finding a mountain to block Mt. Wilson.

That will depend on finding a mountain to block Mt. Wilson.

A good number of the Mt Wilson FMs have boosters to fill the shadow areas in the Santa Clarita Valley. Since the area is within the primary contours of most of those stations, the boosters fill for what would be the normal coverage were there not obstructions.
