Valentine moving to afternoons

I didn't hear about this.

Now begs the obvious question.

WHAT TOOK THEM SO FREAKING LONG?
______________

Hard to fathom: despite Phil's claims when he left CC,
there was NO interest in syndication...and CC tried hard.

I thought that G.Gordon was taped on WTN. However for the past two days I have heard him take calls from Nashville. How is this possible. I enjoy the G Man but it would be grest to hear some local talk in the afternoon. What took them so long?

G Gordon is tape-delayed in Nashville. Perhaps somebody is listening over the internet. And I think GGL is on XM or Sirius. Maybe both.
______________

The diehard followers of many talk shows know the live hours the show is taking calls, so even if the show is delayed in their area, they know when to call. In fact, for many shows, if you call the show's number when the show is not on live, a recorded message will tell you when to call back. And most show websites post their live hours.

When April 1 comes around and Phil is syndicated, I wouldn't think his show would deal with issues that are exclusively local any longer.

I must say that this poster has NO idea what he's talking about. My parting with WLAC had nothing to do with Clear Channel. In fact, several Clear Channel stations have contacted us about picking up the show. We welcome anyone who wants to join the network. This guy was in no way connected to my negotiations with WLAC. I left on very good terms with the people there and higher-ups at CC contacted me with their frustration that the local manager was not able to come to terms with me. I guess there are some folks out there who have a higher opinion of their worth to the company than actually exists. I look forward to working with any and all CC stations who want to boost ratings in their markets, just as we've done at WTN.

Read my original post: did I mention WLAC anywhere?
Did I claim to be involved with negotiations with WLAC?
Just reacting to the potshots taken in The Tennessean when you left CC
regarding syndication.

I guess there are some folks out there who have a higher opinion
of their worth to the company than actually exists.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Chris, I don't want to get into a "you-know-what" match through this board. I must confess that I don't remember you from WLAC but Johnny B does. You would have NO way of knowing what Clear Channel and I talked about. Please, keep your thoughts to yourself in that regard. I took no potshots at WLAC when I left. I'm still great friends with many people who are still there. Your apparent ultra-liberal bent is clouding your judgement and, obviously, your memory. Perhaps you're better suited for Radio Free Nashville.

I'll ask my pal Al Gore to get The Tennessean clip from his pals there!
No shouting match will happen...and I applaud you for at least not
hiding behind a fake user name here!

Yes, Phil, anyone who doubts your prospects in syndication are ultra-liberal. And you're also right, we should all keep our thoughts to ourselves on a DISCUSSION BOARD.

*Sigh* You weren't quite so full of yourself when you were on WTN in the mornings years ago. I'm just a listener, and have never worked in radio, and listened to you religiously before you left for Philly. It was a different show back then. But I guess I must be ultra-liberal too.

prediction: phil's ratings in nashville will suffer. no slight to phil, but local personalities who try to take locally-based talk shows and synidcate them generally end up watering down the content. keep the program strong by allowing it to continue focusing on nashville and tn subject matter.

Is he *still* trying to go national? *rolling eyes* My boss is a Republican and *he* hates Phil.

This guy is without question one of the most obvious Limbaugh clones around. Only he's not very good at it. The only reason he gets any attention is because the devoted reactionaries will listen to any robot spouting the party line. His show lives on conservative coattail vapors. It says a lot about the rednecks, that's for sure. There must be an original thought in that brain of his. I wonder if he'll ever let it out. Maybe if Rush says it first!

Seems to me he's one of the few conservative hosts that's not a Rush clone, though he still falls short of Knoxville's Hallerin Hill on the non-Rush-clone-conservative-talk-show-hosts meter. Phil's not afraid at all to depart from the party line, and was one of the first in this state to do so under the previous Republican govenor's administration. He certainly didn't tow party line there.
