I have not talked to Lu, but I would like to email her. My guess is maybe she got another job or something, but who knows in this business. Lu is a very nice lady and I think she has a lot of talent. I don't think she will have any trouble finding another job. I personally never got to work with her, but did talk to her and knew her.
If WMEZ is live from 6am throughout drive time it must be something they just started doing within the last couple of years. Back when I worked there the only time they were live was in the mornings or when they were running a contest. All other times (and on the weekends) they were voiceracked. But things have changed since then and I haven't worked there since Kevin left. They've moved to a new studio, added a traffic guy, and a new PD. Maybe things have changed, but a while back the only time they were live was in the mornings. I think WMEZ just needs some TLC and they're numbers will pick back up.
I think WXBM has some great talent over there. Marty and Linda have been keeping that station together and doing a great job of it. I just think it's great WXBM has someone live all the time (and on weekends) because regardless of market size, you just don't see that anymore. Unfortunately, the radio station I currently work for doesn't even have a live person from 7 to midnight. In my opinion, I think it would be good to have someone 24/7 because you have people in the evenings (and in the middle of night) who would like to hear a live, local, DJ. I used to be one who would sit up all night and call the radio stations at 3am (just ask Little John Walker who used to DJ overnights at WPFM in Panama City!)
If I find out anything, I'll let you know.
