Valley star joins CBS 5 Morning Show

I don't know who it is, but I just saw a promo that said to tune in tomorrow morning because a "Valley star is joining the Morning Show." ??

There is also a video clip on the CBS 5 website. Tara stopped by Paul Horton's car wash to discuss her new segment. Honestly, it sounds like its a once-a-week segment, rather than fully "joining" the news team.

CBS 5 -- "We Hire the People Fired by Other Stations" (cue the Enforcer theme music).

haha exactly! Typical media sensationalistic doublespeak where "joining the Morning Show" really means "10 minutes a month."

lol...The last time I watched CBS 5 "news", they seemingly spent the whole newscast telling me that "they were asking the tough questions, holding the powerful accountable, and telling it like it is with no hype. I'm not sure that there was really any news content.

Maybe if they got back to reporting the important news at the beginning of their 10pm show instead of a "hard-hitting investigative piece," they would get more respect. Even Channel 3 is trying to turn things around, and they were notorious for putting "Inside Edition" stories in the first segment not too long ago.

As for Tara Hitchcock, at least she has a little bit of name recognition here. When Connie Colla returned to ABC15, she had been gone from the Valley for 15-plus years.

Yet it seems every day I hear a promo on KPHO, "Thank you for making us #1 at 10pm last night."

Then again, I think KPNX is also claiming to be #1 at 10pm.

They both can be true, based on demos (no one has the time to read the fine print on the bottom of the screen when they flash the "#1 at 10pm" promo). KPHO could be number one with men aged 45+ while KPNX might be tops with women 25-54. Then again, Univision 33 also claims to be #1, and both KPHO and Telemundo 39 claim to be the "fastest growing newscast" (in the case of Telemundo, "regardless of language").

The improvement in 3's news product is truly something. They've pretty much upgraded in all aspects of the newscast — presentation, anchors (Moseley and Peña make a pretty good team), news selection. Far better than 10 which is becoming (personally) very hard to watch, 15 (15's logo shows up when you look for "terrible" in the dictionary), 12 or even 5.

I really like Fields...it's cute when his voice cracks on the air. Seriously I really do like the team on 3 in the evenings...

The 3TV evening team is pretty good these days. Personally, I'm impressed with the new music and graphics package. It seems to add a bit of pizazz to their newscasts (even GMAZ). They look much more like a top 20 newscast now. For what it's worth, they have also beefed up the weekend pm team with the addition of Karen Brown and Jamie Cerreta. I wonder if they will expand their weekend pm newscasts to one hour -- at least at 9pm.

So she's doing junkets. Movie studios fly her out, all expenses paid and she shills the movie. It's basically paid advertising on tv news.

On Monday, Arizona Republic posted a short story on Tara's new position at CBS5.

I could've done without her slamming other anchors. Once you say "no offense" you obviously mean to offend.

It's like she never left...

That was pretty classless. Tara was able to land this 'dream' gig by sitting at a desk for all those years. I can understand wanting to do something different, but don't dump on the path you took to get to where you're happy to be now.
