Vampire Weekend album debuts at #1 on Billboard 200

Congratulations to New York Indie Rock band Vampire Weekend! Their new album Contra released last week has sold over 124,000 copies in it's first week and enough to debut at the top of the Billboards at #1! Considering they are "Indie" in the respect that the album is independently distributed, this is quite an amazing feat. In fact, not only does it debut at #1, but it's also only the TWELFTH album on an independent distributor to reach this status since the SoundScan started the Billboard 200 in 1991!
