Vancouver's Now radio saying goodbye?

It looks like Now radio which debuted around 2 years ago in Vancouver is set to be replaced, by the station Now replaced. In 2022 The Peak moved to HD-2 and online. It appears that The Peak is going to replace Now. Word is it will happen tomorrow. I have seen a few posts about it on different sites and currently the conversation window on Now is full of speculation about the change.

"Now Radio" is 102.7 CKPK. It has a Hot AC music format that also includes some Hot Talk. The "Now Radio" concept was doing well in other markets around Canada: Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton.

The previous format was known as "The Peak." It wavered between Adult Alternative and Alternative Rock. But Vancouver already has two Alternative stations, CFOX 99.3 and CKKS-2 104.9. And when it comes to Adult Alternative, that's covered by 105.7 CBU-FM, the CBC Music affiliate. Yes, it also airs Classical and other genres but CBC Music is Adult Alternative a good portion of the day.

The Peak is for sure coming back to Vancouver. Now is not doing well. It has been talked about for so long as a possibility. Reality is it will happen sometime June 7

I like this change. I really liked listening to The Peak before the format flip. I also didn’t really understand who Now 102.7 was intended to appeal to. The playlist seemed a little too broad to really please any listener in particular, which never bodes well for long term success. I like a wide playlist, but even a wide playlist has concentrate on music that is somewhat similar.
