Vandals take down KRKO's Towers

avtosalon said:
I remember in the early 80's a base of a tower was blown up in Lafayette, Indiana.
Apparently listeners were upset that an FM station flipped from Album Rock to Top 40, and there was not another Rock station for listeners to change over to.
I tried to find information on the internet, but could not find anything.
Same sort of thing happened near Union City, TN, about that same time. Only difference was, in this case, the studios were burned down. They had gone from rock to country, but more importantly, from being a 24/7 station to signing off at night. The fire happened at about 3:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning. They were off the air for three months. Then when they returned to the air, they had bomb threats!
