I've been watching 12 this week to see what the fuss is all about but the only thing I noticed was her makeup. It reminded me of the lady who did the Saturday night horror shows in L.A. some years ago. They should soften up her features a little bit IMHO. I found nothing unusual or obnoxious about her speech.

I blame my Northern public school education but I've always called it MEX-i-co and don't remember hearing MEH-hee-co or MAY-hee-co until I was a young adult living in Northwest Florida. Possibly also on TV/movies but it didn't register.

If the Noo Yawk Times would occasionally travel west beyond the Hudson River they might learn that Arizona's first settlers were indigenous peoples we late arrivals call "Indians" and did not come from anywhere near the Iberian Peninsula.
