Variety 99.3

It transmits from Block Island and only has limited range on the mainland. In southeast Rhode Island, once you go a few miles north of Narragansett or Newport, 99.1 WPLM in Plymouth, MA starts to interfere. It covers more mainland area in southwest RI and southeast CT.

It's gone through a few different formats over the past few years. I remember only being able to pick it up in South County in the '90s when they were rocker "Q99.3" WBLQ. They were 99.3 Swing F.M., 99.3 The Bridge WJZS & maybe a couple of other things. I can barely hear them in the Providence area due to QRM from 99.1/WPLM-FM.

You guys must be using some pretty crappy radios.

I live in East Providence and even on a portable radio with a analog dial, I can pick up 99.3, well over 99.1.

While the signal isn't gang-busters, it is certanly gets out farther than South County.

On a home radio in the Providence area, yes, it's easier to get because you're not dealing with constant fading and interference from 99.1 WPLM like in a car radio. The only place besides Block Island that can hear 99.3 clearly on a car radio is within a few miles of the RI and southeast CT coast. 95.9 WCRI's coverage is even worse, with 95.9 WATD starting to chop it up when you get north of Narragansett or Newport. Even in the north end of Jamestown, WATD starts to interfere with WCRI. The owners should localize these stations to serve Block Island and the south coast, where they can be heard best.

In E.P. the only way I could get WJZS is on a car radio. None of the other receivers will get it & one that I'm talking about I am able to receive WAQY & used to be able to receive WTIC-FM regularly. Too much bleedover from WPLM-FM coupled with being 2 miles from 94.1 & 95.5.

I stopped listening to 99.3 when they flipped. They're just from the bird now, I take it?
