Boston Rose is John DePetro
Not even a funny one, Boston Rose.
Truth is I sent Oedipus' aircheck to Harry Nelson at WRKO in the 1970s (at the request of Oedipus Hyson). Harry rejected it, and he has my thanks for doing so!
I wouldn't work for WRKO if they were the last radio station on earth. They are BIGOTS and they are cheapskates.
Cheap Bigots are the worst bigots, aren't they? I mean, really, if you are going to be bigoted at least
make an attempt to show some faux class
What Boston Rose's posting proves is that the suits at WRKO can't take a letter that dares criticize their bigotry.
Here's a re-run - oh, and there's no Copyright problem in re-printing it here as I am the Copyright owner!
(In fact - here's the unedited version)

RE: John Depetro's gay slur on WRKO
Dear Mr. Wolfe and Ms. Kahn:
WRKO has given John Depetro more opportunities than
most.
There is NO PLACE for gay slurs on WRKO. Whenever a
jock has to "hit below the belt" it is because they
are insecure, lack integrity, and realize they have no
talent. Of course when he's tied with a Worcester
station for 18th place, according to Jessica Heslam's
article in the Boston Herald (1), it is obvious
Depetro is hoping to get some traction with his own
"Metco" scandal. And - heck - since Michael Savage
(2) is still on the air after his horrifying remarks -
Jason Wolfe's remark in the Herald: "This corporation
has zero tolerance for racial intolerance" is lip
service, just lip service.
There are a lot of quality on-air personalities coming
up out of New England Institute Of Art, Emerson
College and the University of Lowell. There are some
Boston radio legends who have the ability to generate
far better ratings - though they lean more towards the
progressive side of the equation - something WRKO is
loathe to accept.
Rush Limbaugh in a drug scandal; Dennis & Callahan
with the Metco fiasco; Mike Savage going beyond potty
mouth, and Howie Carr bringing up "the virus" to slam
any gay person whenever he gets the urge, this is what
Jason Wolfe calls "zero tolerance"?
On one level Depetro never really fit in to the Boston
radio waves. Heslam's article in the Boston Herald
should make it clear that John Depetro is not welcome
in this blue state. On the bigger level, perhaps it
is time for WRKO to really clean up its act. These
used to be, after all, the "Public" airwaves!
John Depetro had a golden opportunity to go after the
corruption that led to the death of a woman. That
would take some hard work and many hours of research.
But he has taken the low road - it's much easier for
him to be a "shock jock" and use a slur. Like many
other has-been Boston on-air personalities who can
dish it out but can't take it, John Depetro lacks
character. I intend to start boycotting all WRKO
advertisers until Mr. Depetro is fired.
Sincerely,
Joe Viglione

P.S. We have released music by artists from all walks of life,
including gay artists. WRKO wants listener support?
Well, WRKO needs to be SUPPORTIVE of the listeners in
this region.
