I have never been on the radio in a professional capacity, but I have been more interested in it than most people and used to enjoy trying to find distant AM and FM stations. I joined this site about 15 years ago looking for information. The sources where I used to get the same information were getting harder to find. Later this site provided me with a place to rant about, and later with the explanations of why, I couldn't listen to the music I wanted on the radio and it became one place to find out about how to listen online once I got fast enough Internet to do so.

I gave a speech at my high school which might have been on the radio, and at least once a DJ played my comments to him on the air (if he did, it was because I was calling from a long distance away). There might have been other times but I don't remember. I sat in the room quietly when my father was live as one of a rotating group of inspirational speakers on one of several radio stations where he did this when I was a child. I have one recording (I think) which was preceded by gospel music.

My name was on the subject line of the first email I ever sent. I don't know how I was able to do this without an email address. An adult standards radio station with a new web site had some kind of contact us link. During the day they were trying to be all things to all people while at night the station remained ABC Stardust when that format was true standards at night. I congratulated their new music director (described on the subject line, with a typo I didn't know how to fix) and told him he should appear on the late night shows. The attempt to reach more listeners failed after a month and the person responsible went back to the zoo, I guess. As for the name I gave him, that became my first email address that didn't have my real name in it.

I've always lived in North Carolina and mostly close to Charlotte. Once my grandmother went into assisted living we tried to stay close even though my father moved a number of times for work. I have lived where I do now ever since my father retired and we moved next door to my other grandparents. They didn't live much longer.

I go to the mountains and to Myrtle Beach every year. This is something I did with my parents as a child.

I watched "Hee Haw" and other country music shows on TV and sometimes listened to country music on the radio. As a teenager I listened to what was called adult contemporary music, but I also liked the "beautiful music" played in most business and medical and dental offices, and the traditional music played at Christmas. While I was in college adult standards radio was invented. I don't remember listening to what was called middle of the road music as a child, but adult standards was similar. It attempted to mix big band music (which was all over TV when I was a child, on variety shows and some sitcoms) with softer adult contemporary music. Soft rock replaced beautiful music on FM and I liked that too.

I've mostly liked comedy on TV and in spite of what people on this site believed, I was the class clown in school.

I've edited Wikipedia ever since I found out I could and that there wasn't much about radio stations I listened to. I found other subjects I could write about, and nearly every day I make corrections. I also started reviewing movies for imdb in 2002 but mainly when there wasn't much there about the movies I watched.
