Vegas Gets Jacked

After an hour of Christmas music, KMZQ 100.5 (Lite 100) Las Vegas just made the flip at 3pm to JACK-FM.

The first few songs:

FLYING LIZARDS Money That's What I Want
AC/DC Highway To Hell
EMF Unbelievable
THE ROLLING STONES Jumpin' Jack Flash

That's a bit of a shocker . . . I thought the owners of the SLC Jack were going to put it on a move-in. Looks like Infinity beat them to the punch.

Thanks for the post -- I received an e-mail tip about that (from a very high-up source) soon after the fact. Interesting that they stunted with Christmas music for an hour before the switch.
______________

There is actually some symbolism in the first few songs Las Vegas' new "Jack" played:

> FLYING LIZARDS Money That's What I Want

Maybe the previous format wasn't very profitable. If this "Jack", like most of the others, is to run long-term without live personalities, the station's payroll will be vastly reduced, which would make the station more profitable.

> AC/DC Highway To Hell

For some listeners of the former format, "Jack" may indeed be a rude shock.

> EMF Unbelievable

Another listener reaction.

> THE ROLLING STONES Jumpin' Jack Flash

He's playing what he wants.....he's Jack.

Agreed, Infinity timed this one well. The Jack playing card was a smart choice on the (Jack 100.5 website. I laughed hard when I read on All Access about how they said that Jack won the station from a guy named Joel (Hollander perhaps?) in Texas Hold 'Em Poker at the MGM Grand. Pretty clever...
______________
