Vegas needs a station like WKTI

All Las Vegas had for hot AC pop is Mix 94.1. It's actually modern AC though. It doesn't play old stuff mixed in with the new like the former WKTI 94.5 in Milwaukee. They played the 80s, 90s, and today. Why doesn't Las Vegas have a station like that? Mix would never play Journey for example.

And there is still no mainstream CHR outlet either. The new 104.3 Now is like KLUC - just rhythmic. There's no Fray, Pink, All American Rejects, 3oh!3, etc. on either station. Why doesn't that format work in a city like Vegas? CHRs are doing well everywhere else.

Las Vegas had a station similar to WKTI...the old STAR 102.7. They tried to position themselves somewhere between KMXB and KSNE and didn't make a dent into either one of them. They don't exist anymore, neither does WKTI for that matter.

Both KLUC and NOW are rhythmic leaning mainstreams. They both play plenty of pop acts including a few of the ones you mentioned.

I wouldn't use STAR 102.7 as an example. That was one truly bad station. Even worse as an 80's station. They may have singlehandedly forever killed the 80's format in Vegas.

Heard that!! they somehow managed to play the absolute worst from a decade that was most unkind to music. The Sunday night alternative rock show wasn't bad. I tuned in for that

Vegas does need a new format badly. I'm back to listening to XM and satellite sucks. Will someone please flip KKLZ? they are doing to 60s and 70s music what Star did to the 80s.

KKLZ does very well in the upper demos. There is a very large older-leaning base in Vegas. And PPM has been very good to classic hits and even classic rock formats...so don't expect KKLZ to change anything.

And to say that Star killed the 80's format in Vegas is absurd. The format is already dead in almost every other market in the US. They managed to keep the format alive for much longer than anyone else.

You've not been listening to Mix lately. Since the change in PD, it seems like 90's golds are getting a ton more spins than before. Not so many spins on the 80's stuff, but the number of spins on older stuff in general has definitely gotten a recognizable boost.
