well, arbitron has more accurate numbers anyway

Actually those are Arbitron rankings, if they look different to you it's because they are 25-54, not 12+.

Here were the biggest surprises to me:

KMXB moving from #1 in the Spring to #9 in the Summer 25-54 (and #1 to #11 12+). I knew they were going to go down because they were dropping off such a big June, but I didn't expect that sharp of a drop. Any theories on why this took place? The good news for MIX (and this applies to every station) is that the market is so fragmented right now that one good month could push them up several rankings.

Another surprise is how poorly KRGT is doing against KWID. No other market has PRECIOSA up by that margin against direct competition. Maybe 99.3 should shift back to reggaeton? They were #1 18-34 in their final month of the old format. I realize 25-54 is an easier sell, but KRGT is #16 25-54 and will most likely go down again next trend as they drop off a good July.

Finally I am surprised that the POINT didn't get a boost in September from KOOL changing formats. I would have guessed they would have benefited more than any other station. Instead it seems as if SUNNY and JACK are where many of the former KOOL listeners migrated to. I hear some oldies on both stations that might be there to attract former KQOL listeners such as "Sounds Of Silence" on SUNNY and "Mr Tambourine Man" on JACK.

Just like Gomer Pyle used to say.....

SUE-PRIZE, SUE-PRIZE, SUE-PRIZE!

KMXB plummeted because they are an awful radio station. It's that simple. Most of their target demo, including people like my wife, have switched to 93.1.
