Ventrilo instead of Skype?

I've used Ventrilo a few times for radio remotes and such, has anyone here used both this and Skype? I steered away from Skype because even though many here like the quality I don't trust P2P and not knowing what the audio is going through. I like the control with Ventrilo, I have Speex 44.1khz forced as the codec, and I'm directly calling the studio's Ventrilo server.

Any thoughts?
