Verizon Wireless Outage

Anyone have any knowledge of what caused the Verizon Wireless outage yesterday? I've heard it was down from North Alabama down to Birmingham...maybe further.. ?
 
Huh.....I just got a new Verizion phone + service and did not notice any problems. Then again I was in the studio all day.....

Yay! I have a new phone! No more Trac Phones fer me! Now I just have to get everyone my new #
 
nah, this was a double whammy. PHONE SERVICE was out. Couldn't register to any verizon tower. Call your phone number, get fast busy. Even after verizon service was restored blackberry service didn't come back until later that evening. I drove up the interstate about 40 miles and was roaming all the way if i had service at all...

(and roaming wouldn't allow me to place calls)

I talked to people from Birmingham up to Decatur on verizon - they all experienced the problem.
