Vernal Enterprises Expands Their Empire

The sale of WNAE(FM) 102.7 in Clarendon (near Warren) has been sold from Iorio Broadcasting to Leroy Schreckengost and Vernal Enterprises for $355,000.
The station currently plays Country music.
Sort of surprising that Leroy is expanding North like this. Unless, there is more to come.
His empire basically encompasses Indiana, Northern Cambria, Ebensburg, and Gallitzin.

No one with a name like that should be able to own radio stations. he should be a animated character in a horror movie. I do love his WHPA though, except it's changing formats 1st of the year. Sad.

It's my understanding that Roger Corky will be going to WHPA up the mountain and going under his real name of Chris Lash. The show will be called "Leeping Lash and LP Oldies". Don't look for Lash (Corky) to stay long on this gig.

I think you're referring to Chris Ashe who used to live in Asheville and worked for Ed Sherlock at WMAQ when it was located at St. Francis College. You'd best get YOUR facts straight and by the way, don't insult my fry business.

No Chris Lash from Punxy who worked as Sales Manager in Altoona in the late 90's. And I was not insulting your Fry Buissness, just your statement, anything is better than radio anymore.

Gee, if "Corky" goes up there, will Pompa be out the door?

I heard Lash on the air in Florida after Tenn. But the weather in Florida must have been too warm for him because he is back in PA.

First the man's name is Larry not Leroy. Second I am back and forth to Florida and helping with the radio stations here and in Kittanning. Glad we got the name's and places correct.

With all this moving around I wonder, is the radio industry that bad, or are these station hoppers just a bunch of no talent, trouble making near-do-wells who can't hold down a job? I also wonder, are you so ashamed of your work that you have to use a fake name. I bet the really good broadcasters use their real names. I sign every single satellite dish I install with a sharpie.

I've been working out of the same old 1973 (former Marhofer bread truck) since 1984 when I was installing 12 foot dishes. Now there's stability.

Indeed, the receiver you installed on my doublewide is still receiving more channels than any 10 people can watch. I also liked the way you rigged it so that I could pick up the "adult" channels without paying an extra premium. Smelling of fry grease like I do all the time makes it rather difficult for picking up women in the real world.

Furthermore Satelite man,
It's not the stations that are unstable. They stay in one place and the vast majority of facilities have never even moved their tower (s). It's the ilk that this biz attracts that moves to and fro, this market and the next and back to the first market. Also with the exception of Dave Barker's operations which are an oasis in an otherwise lacklustlander landscape, you have a bunch of "never were" "want-to-be" guys passing themselves off as broadcasters. I can think of two morning shows in the Altoona market as examples. I believed you installed a satelite dish at one of those guy's homes, he called you back and complained of poor reception, and it turned out a hot dog delivery truck from Hormel.

Never thought I'd see the call letters "WNAE" on this board! I wasn't aware of the FM in Clarendon. Only WNAE-AM in Warren. It's where I got my start 20 years ago under P.D. Mark Silvis and owner LeRoy Schneck when it was LeRoy's Kinzua Broadcasting Company. I know the company owned WKNB-FM as a country station, but never heard of WNAE-FM 102.7. Interesting!

I'll have to check it out over the holidays when I'm back home.

I don't like to speak ill of anyone, but Lash has a real ego problem. And, he's much reponsible for the loss of good talent at WHPA and the direction the station has gone/going. I hear he's now gone, and off who-knows-where messing up a free breakfast.
