Vernon and Roser head to 92.9/680 for 11-2 shift

I'm not much of a sports radio listener except maybe during football season, so none of them are targeting me.

But when a local sports "issue" of significance comes up, there is no one I care to hear more than Lapides discuss it. He has been around Memphis for so long that you know his opinion is credible.

Why anyone would find "high school locker room type of conversation and intellect" entertaining is beyond me, but again I'm not a 24/7 sports listener.

But if something happens like the Tigers are firing the coach or the Grizzlies are being sold, I know who is going to have the most intelligent discussion.

how do the sports stations compare based on the target? Based on the 6+ ratings it looks like wmfs has a big lead. But that's not the target. For those in the know, how does mike and mike, Gary parish etc compare to whbqs lineup of George, rain man etc?

"high school" and "juvenile" is what older people (or people who take themselves too seriously) refer to what is popular at the time.
It's obvious that you have never listened to the show.

The Vernon Show (and Gary Parish) are the two most entertaining sports shows in Memphis.
If they can hold on to their talent, they WMFS will crush Q in the ratings and have a younger, more desirable audience.

Dennis Phillippi filled in for Gary Parrish yesterday afternoon. He sounded really good - smooth and comfortable. Several very good interviews. Even the fill-in hosts at WMFS are noticeably better than the regulars at WHBQ.

PPM will tell.

jharmon sounds like a hater.

That's the best you can do - self promoter?
Really, really lame.

Come on back when the next ratings are released, and you can admit how wrong you were.

not a hater, Wool, just indifferent.
Get all the sports I need on my smartphone.

looks like the suspicion has been confirmed about Wool and Verno being one in the same. Don't be too crushed with the PPM comes out and the needle hasn't moved.

Gotta wonder who calls the shots and what the plan is at WHBQ. I'm no fan of Corp radio but Q clearly was and had the opportunity to be the sports leader. Meanwhile, entercom grabbed espn, parish, grizzlies and now Vernon. Q has George, rain man, redbirds and rebels. For all the crap Corp radio gets looks like one is investing in compelling content.

Your track record is unblemished radio.
100% incorrect.

Cream always rises to the top.
WMFS has more talent, a better partner (ESPN), and better sporting events.

Expecting Q to compete with them is delusional.
